About Me: Amanda Lee

As the oldest daughter of three children I fit a lot of stereotypes.  I'm a mother hen, I am harder on myself than I should be, I expect perfection in all that I do (though I rarely achieve it), I'm slightly bossy, I have a mile deep desire to please everyone, and I'm very opinionated.  I can't find anyone to confirm this, but I'm pretty sure I came out of the womb with my sassy right hand resting on my hip. Urban legend?  I think not.  I have two younger brothers, a mother and father, and a miniature-schnauzer that all reside in Minnesota.  I just wrapped up my college career with a BA in American Studies and am about to embark upon an 18 month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  I probably love America more than you and would consider it the highest honor to get married on the 4th of July.  My lifelong aspiration is to work for the government in any capacity that they will let me and to one day call the oval office my own.  Oh, and I also want to be the mother of 5 children (after I lure in a husband...but as any Bon Iver fan knows, the lyrics "I can't make you love me," are just another reminder that men have their agency and I can't force one of them to marry me).  As many good Mormon children do, I play the piano and sing and can also be found tooting on a clarinet, flute, or saxophone.  One of these days I'll master the guitar, until then I'll just settle for acting like I know what I'm doing.  I love pop culture probably more than I should and get way too into Twitter.  In my free time I like to follow current events and politics, bake, camp, spend time with other humans, read anything of varying literary merit (there's a time for Jane Austen and a time for Twilight as well--don't judge), sail, and laugh.  I love to laugh and smile and be around people who make me laugh and smile. Really, I'm your average 22 year old female except for the fact that I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, or have sex, but I don't have horns (they just wouldn't be flattering) and I value the freedom of religion and will never try and shove my faith down someone's throat unless they want it there.
